Mozart Coronation Mass Sunday, May 16, 10:00 am The Eliot Church Chancel Choir, soloists, and orchestra presented Mozart’s Coronation Mass during our worship service. The “Coronation” mass was completed on March 23, 1779. It was composed for the crowning of an image of the Virgin in the Cathedral of Salzburg. It was premiered on Easter Sunday April 4, 1779. It is scored for SATB soloists and chorus, 2 violins, 2 oboes, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, timpani, and organ. The Coronation Mass is one of the most popular of Mozart's 17 mass settings. All present rejoiced in the pageantry of this masterful work with the Eliot Church music ministry!
