Exploring Faces of Our Faith

Upon entering my favorite coffee shop here in Newton the other day, a person noticed me wearing a clerical collar, and began a conversation with me. Essentially, he noted that I was the visible representation of Christian faith. Indeed, many people think that the church and faith is all about the pastors, the bishops, or the Pope.

The Christian faith began and continues to be a grassroots movement. Of course, there are some people who decide to dedicate their life and profession to this movement by becoming pastors. But essentially, we are a community of those who believe, doubt, or have questions about faith, life, and death. We are community of many individuals who have a heart for other people, a just world, and God’s creation. The Bible is full of stories of individuals who struggle, doubt, and experience conflict or oppression. Many of those stories we do not hear about.

This season, we will explore little known faces of faith in our Sacred Scriptures who stood up for themselves or their community and their faith. Join us on Sundays to learn more about people like Puah, Deborah, Queen Vashti, and many more. We look forward to seeing you!
