Eliot Church of Newton
Celebrates 180 years!

The Eliot Church of Newton marked a remarkable milestone on October 26, 2025, celebrating 180 years of faith, fellowship, and service. Members, friends, and neighbors gathered for a day of reflection and connection, beginning with a special worship service followed by a community luncheon in Fellowship Hall.

An exhibit and program highlighted the church’s rich history and enduring impact, offering attendees the chance to share memories and reconnect with old friends. Those unable to attend in person were invited to share their stories and reflections by email at 180years@eliotchurch.org.

True to its long-standing commitment to outreach and social justice, Eliot Church dedicated the celebration’s special collection to FamilyAid, Greater Boston’s leading organization providing solutions to family homelessness. Donations of diapers, wipes, and reusable water bottles were collected to support the cause, and monetary gifts were accepted via check—made payable to Eliot Church with “FamilyAid” noted in the memo—or online at eliotchurch.org/donate.

More information about FamilyAid and its Newton Navigation Center can be found at familyaidboston.org.

For 180 years, Eliot Church has served as a cornerstone of faith and compassion in Newton—celebrating not only its past but also its continuing mission to make a positive difference in the community.

October 4, 2025

The Eliot Church of Newton celebrated a momentous occasion on Saturday, October 4, as members, friends, and community leaders gathered to formally install Rev. Eric Jackson as the church’s new Pastor.

The installation service was a joyful and spirit-filled event, featuring powerful messages and blessings from distinguished clergy, including Rev. Keith A. Bolden Sr., Pastor of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in New York City; Rev. Nancy S. Taylor, Pastor Emeritus of Old South Church in Boston; and Rev. The celebration brought together members of the Metropolitan Boston Association of the Southern New England Conference, city leaders from Newton, and clergy from across the Greater Boston area. Family, friends, and members of the Eliot Church community filled the sanctuary to welcome Rev. Jackson and to mark this new chapter in the church’s 180-year legacy of faith and service.
